The Fabulous Torque's

To say we are good friends is not nearly enough. We are brothers from different mothers. All of us were raised in the northern part of Kansas City, 3 from an area known as Avondale and one from a place called Sunset Hill. Geographically speaking both areas are just a very small part of Kansas City north.

Edward "Leebo" Epperson, Stevie Wolverton, Kenny Butterfield, and Johnny Isom would never have believed after 43 years they would still be playing music together. Still being alive is a miracle in itself. The story of "The Torque's" is a wonderful and similar story to a lot of guys and girls from the baby boomer generation.

Leebo, Kenny & Stevie grew up as friends from kindergarten, and as adolescence hit, the desire to express themselves turned musical. Luckily for Johnny they heard him playing somewhere in the neighborhood and thought he would make a good addition to the group. This was somewhere around 1963. For the next couple of years; to say we had a great time is a total understatement. We hardly ever made any money but man we had some fun!!!

As life goes, and as we grew older we separated. Leebo, Kenny, & Stevie all went to Viet Namm. Johnny, because of physical problems was spared that particular fate and pursued a musical career, as you can tell by the rest of this web-site. But the four remained great friends.

Also as life goes; we lost our great buddy and founder of the band, Edward Leebo Epperson to cancer in may of 2009. Rather than give up and loose the good times, and irreplaceable friendship Stevie, Kenny, and Johnny decided to add Janelle Frost from Johnny I and the Receders. It was impossible to replace Leebo, so we decided to go another direction and add a superb female voice to our great harmony! Janelle brings an aspect of rock & roll we never thought of as childhood friends. We were all guys. DUH!! So now we can play the great girl songs from that era also.

Now after 47 years "The Fabulous Torque's" are still great friends and playing a caliber of music they only dreamed of when they were teenagers. There have been a lot of "boomer bands" spring up in the last few years. But if you want to hear a genuinely good, and fun band playing music from the late 50's and early 60's rock & roll, you have   to check out -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
